Easter Wishes from Leaders: Modi and Murmu Share Joyful Messages

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu took to social media to extend warm greetings to the public on Easter Sunday, embracing the spirit of renewal and hope associated with this significant Christian festival.

In a heartfelt message on X, Prime Minister Modi expressed his wishes for Easter to inspire unity and peace among people, echoing the sentiments of renewal and optimism that Easter symbolizes. He conveyed, “May this day inspire us all to come together, fostering unity and peace. Wishing everyone a joyful Easter.”

President Droupadi Murmu also joined in extending Easter greetings, emphasizing the significance of celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Her message on X resonated with themes of love, hope, and universal fraternity, stating, “Easter greetings to all, especially to our Christian brothers and sisters! This pious occasion of celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, promotes the spirit of love, hope, and universal fraternity. May the teachings of Jesus Christ lead us onto the path of peace and harmony.”

Easter, known as Pascha or Resurrection Sunday, commemorates the victory of life over death, symbolized by Jesus Christ’s resurrection three days after his crucifixion on Good Friday. The occasion is marked with joyous festivities and the exchange of gifts among loved ones.

Traditionally falling on the first Sunday following the vernal equinox, Easter 2024 holds special significance this year on March 31. Many Christian traditions observe an Easter Vigil on the preceding night, featuring symbolic rituals and scripture readings recounting salvation history.

While Easter carries deep religious meaning, it is also embraced by secular symbols like the Easter Bunny in Western cultures. According to folklore, the Easter Bunny brings Easter eggs and treats to children, adding a touch of joy and excitement to this cherished holiday.
